Articles on Age Regression
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
Feel like I'm missing the boat.
By Randy Hold, CCHt, California Stress Relief Center, Palo Alto, Ca
I've been working with this client for a while now, he's been struggling with the ups and downs of unemployment for quite
a while. He's approaching retirement age and has limited funds saved away.
On this day, he came in really feeling down, more than normal, the reality of his finances draining had really hit him
and he was ready to find out where the feeling originated from.
We identified the feeling as "missed the boat" and away we went, following this anxious feeling to its origin. 5,4,3,2,1
"where does it feel your mind's taken you at this point in time?"
Client: "Nowhere, it's just black."
I helped him release some sadness and when he returned back to the scene, he was able to see the whole scene, there he
was, standing on the dock, watching the Mayflower depart. The actual Mayflower and yes he had gone back a few past lives.
Note, as a Therapist, I don't care whether it was an actual past life or not, I'm interested in the healing aspects of
the experience.
Each time I help my client release the feelings, I have them return to the start of the scene and see what additional
detail s/he notices. Eventually, when the feelings are completely released, truth and clarity can be reached.
I share this session with you because this client would not have accessed this memory if he didn't release the feelings
that were occluding it. This is a bit contrary to traditional age regression where the belief is that when you can't
reach a memory, you're not deep enough. Actually, each time you return to the memory, release the feelings, you
automatically go deeper, but without releasing the feelings you can only go so deep, and you won't find the clarity
and truth.
Why does this matter?
It highlights the importance of working with feelings. As soon as the feelings are released, the client can begin to
see more detail, make sense out of things and eventually forgive themselves, others and find the good. Forgiveness is
where the real healing is, but that can't happen until the feelings are gone.
